Pregnancy Amnesia

April 29, 2008

The funniest thing happened to me recently.  I have a doctor’s appointment this week.  The physician powers that be have determined that I am ready for my 2-week check ups.  Time has gone by so fast!  Can you believe I only have 9 more weeks to go?

Anyway (getting back to the story), like a good little preggo I went to my appointment on Monday.  Because Monday was April 30th, right?  Wrong.  The poor receptionist looked so confused.  I was confused.  Hell, we were all confused.  It turns out, I had my days mixed up.  April 30th is tomorrow (duh) and that is when my doctor’s appointment is.

Instead of packing it in and going back home right away, I decided to take advantage of a little “me time” and lolly-gagged at Target for awhile.  I found the most delectable little gold chain!  Now, I know what to tell D that I want for Mother’s Day or alternatively, my birthday.

In any case, I go to the doctor’s for real tomorrow.  It is a good thing I have a great sense of humor and can laugh at myself.  Otherwise, I would probably want to stay in bed with the covers over my head! LOL!

Life Insurance

April 26, 2008

How many of you have received term life insurance quotes or have a term life insurance policy?  What was your reasoning for obtaining such a policy?  Lately, the thought of life and death has been on my mind.  If (for whatever reason) I suffer an untimely death, I would want to know that my family would be taken care of monetarily.  I could not imagine leaving my children and my husband alone to struggle through life.  I have considered obtaining a policy but am not sure how much I want to have the policy drawn up for.

I’m young and in fairly good health, so the price at this point would be cheap.  If anyone knows anything about this stuff, leave me a comment! :)

3x Thursday

April 24, 2008

This is a fun weekly meme hosted by hairmetalqueen. This week’s topic is about the state of our world (so to speak).

1. No matter what country you live in, do you think the future is bright (or gloomy) in terms of the economy? Why/why not?

The rising price of gas, the war in Iraq, the outsourcing of jobs and the downswing of the housing market makes me feel as though the economic future is extremely gloomy here in the United States.  Drastic changes need to be made in this country and I do not think that we have the right people in government to produce such a change.

2. What about the current food shortage going on in the world? What are your thoughts about this?

I think it’s sad.  In an idealistic society, we could grow an abundance of crops and food and ship said food to the starving countries.  The problem with this?  Militias, corrupt foreign government, the delicate global economy and the fact that our farmers are paid NOT to produce here in the U.S.

3. What 3 things (among others!) do you think need significant change to make the world a better place? Why?

~ Governments start bonding and working together instead of separately

~ More attention paid to finding alternative renewable resources

~ The ability to find ethical common ground

It is hard for me to think so globally because we have a lot of difficult problems to face here in the United States.  It is hard to comment on the economic and sociological standing of other countries. Every government is different just as the value systems within each culture is different from that of other cultures.

Swing!

April 22, 2008

I have been searching endlessly for economically priced swing sets. I want to get one for the kids and turn the backyard into a mini-park. When we go out into the backyard now, they get bored very easily. Yesterday in fact, I took the kids out, got out a million “yard toys” from the garage and was anticipating that they would have a great time! They opted to hang out with me on the porch instead and got bored quickly with the toys.

My husband and I are also looking for a decent sized, yet cheap sandbox. We’re considering constructing our own sandbox but we’re not sure yet exactly how we want to do it. In any case, i’ll be glad when there are more things for the kids to do in the backyard.

Busy moms…. what a concept!

Today, I ran across a blog called Busy Mommy. True to its name, the site has a lot of valuable information for moms of all walks of life! As a mommy, I found the different sections really helpful! The blog is built on a Joomla platform (just a little geek speak for ya) and I really enjoy the organization of it! Plus, bonus, I finally found a linking to hotslings! I received a sling like that not too long ago and let me tell you… I absolutely loved it! You can be close to your little one while remaining hands free to take care of other tasks! If that doesn’t appeal to the busy mom, I don’t know what does!

Anyway, if you are a busy mom like me, you should check out the site! Stop by and give her props! It is a really resourceful and fun blog!

Timesheet management has never been easier!

Previously, I worked for two companies that utilized timesheet management software.  The software that was used in both instances seemed a bit archaic.  I always felt the timesheets could have been done better, easier and more efficient.  Then, I came across a company called Journyx, Inc. They are full of Timesheet success stories! The company produces a timesheet that keeps track of all expenses with ease and in many cases with just one click of the button! The great thing about this software is that it allows for client access and easy client approval! No more sending invoices back and forth between clients! Now, they can have access to the system and approve everything right then and there! For companies striving to go as paperless as possible or for companies that want an easy and efficient timesheet system this is a great solution!

Childhood dreams

April 19, 2008

When I was a little girl, I always wanted a pony and as I grew older, a horse.  I remember wishing on any star as hard as I could and pleading with God to send me a pony to love.   I would feed it, ride it and love it.

I romanticized things then just as I have a tendency to do now.  When I thought about owning a pony, I thought about the wind in my hair as I rode down fields and across streams.  I thought about my pony as a special friend who would always be there for me.  I would be the envy of all of my little girl friends.  I could brush the pony’s hair and put pretty ribbons in it.  I could give her (it was always a “her” in my mind) a cute name like buttercup.  I would spend hours choosing from a multitude of saddles and horse shoes.

Of course, the reality of the situation was that we lived in the city (so the field and stream vision was just a dream).  Ponys (and horses in general) require much more work than a 5-year old version of me was willing to give.

Needless to say, I did not get my pony but I always chuckle when I think about how badly I wanted one.  It makes me wonder if S will ever ask for one.

Aches and Pains… 3rd trimester finally!

April 14, 2008

I have finally entered into the 3rd trimester!  The home stretch is so near that I can just feel it!  Of course, there are a few things I still need to get for bebe.  Mainly onsies and sleepers; perhaps even an outfit or two.  He (at least I still think it is a “he” — as we were told it “looked” like a he at 14 weeks) will probably only rock out in onesies for the first few months.  I will be having him in the summer.  If this summer is anything like the last few summers… he might only be rocking out in a diaper.  LOL!

In other news…. I hurt.  I’m finally at the point where I waddle 24/7.  My pelvic and hip joints are a bit out of whack at this point.  I’m going to need a girdle and a bath lift. It’s amazing the amount of pressure pregnancy can put on your joints especially in the last remaining months.

I got my lovely glucose test today as well as a shot in the arse (Rhogham).  My Dr. assured me that we will schedule an ultrasound and my c-section within the next 4 weeks.  I am finally at 2-week visits to the Dr.!  Hip-hip-Hooray!!!  3 pregnancies in 4 years has been a bit much for me.  This may sound a little assnine, but I will be ever so glad when i’m done baking my baby bun and he can come out and get flogged with lots of kisses and love from his family!

I am so excited for his arrival!!  It almost feels as if there is a certain air of completion that is surrounding his birth!

After this baby is born

April 13, 2008

After this baby is born, I have an exhaustive list of things I want to accomplish.  Nothing short of a miracle on the list is weight loss.  I have been struggling with this uphill battle for so long that I am finally ready to face the challenge (or so I say at 10:45 pm on a most introspective night).  I have been currently going through a journey of trying to figure out who I am.  It’s weird.  After 27 (almost 28) years on this planet, you would think I would have it all figured out by now.

I have been thinking about Russia lately.  Well, mostly because I have to for school.  Chapter 2 in my Western Geography class is on Russia.  Anyway, it occurred to me that Russia fought long and hard to get away from the claws of communism.  They had a struggling communist society that wasn’t working from a political and economic standpoint.  Now, they have a struggling democratic society and I don’t think they are quite sure what to do with it.  The country is so vulnerable that I am almost certain at some point dictatorship in the form of democracy is bound to take hold again.  A little Western Geography 101 to make you’re night!  hehehe ;)

In time things will get figured out with Russia and with me.

Have a great night everyone!

7th Heaven

April 11, 2008

If you’re like me then you too were addicted to the show, 7th Heaven. You tuned in every week to get lost in the life of the Camden family. You loved Reverend Camden, mom Annie, serious Matt, rebellious Mary, nutty Lucy, sensitive Simon, wise Ruthie, and the babies Sam and David! I catch reruns of this show everyday from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. on the Hallmark channel! I have even heard that there is a 7th Heaven book available for sale! In addition to the DVD collection, I might just have to get that book!

One of the things I loved most about 7th Heaven, is that every episode contained a lesson. It was a show you could turn on and watch with your children. In my opinion, being able to watch your favorite shows with your children is something that is missing in today’s media mind. There aren’t very many shows I consider watching with my kids. How about you?

Were you / are you a 7th Heaven fan? What did you like about the show?
