Remember when cartoons made sense? Whatever happened to that?
In my generation we had cartoons like He-man, Shera, JEM (cuz she’s truly outrageous yo), Rainbow Bright, Fat Albert, Dungeons and Dragons, Carebears, etc. AND the kicker is that they all made sense. There were good guys and bad guys and some kind of colorful plot in between.
BUT NOW… there are these new cartoons and I must say it’s almost like seeing a bad dream unfold.
Owiebear has been hooked on cartoon network lately. Apparently, Wonderpets, Dora, Diego and the Little Einsteins are “for babies” now.
But seriously… have you ever sat down and watched these *new* cartoons? I recently had the … erm.. pleasure? of sitting down to watch Chowder Island and some cartoon where a character yells out “captain!” and I must say it reminds me of a bad acid trip. Like something the Beatles would have written a song about back in the day when long hair, bell bottoms, not taking showers and drugs were used to expand the mind.
I have to say that as much as I loathed having the Backyardigans theme song stuck in my head all-day-long… I kinda miss it.
Shhh…. don’t tell anyone I said that. I will deny.
tell Owiebear that Backyardigans are STILL cool. Logan watches them, Wonderpets, Diego and Wow Wow Wuzby ALL the time.

Oh, I remember THOSE cartoons! How about Jossie and the Pussycats? That was a great one too!
Lucky for me, my kids are not into cartoons too much. They like to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse….which really isn’t that bad.

I completely agree. It seems to be a competition between networks as to who can come up with the most disgusting, nasty, stupid cartoons.
I can’t stand cartoon network. I barely censor my kids, but I don’t let them watch that channel most of the time. Luckily they got so used to not watching it, they don’t even try anymore.
Indeed! What happened? I love cartoons! At one time I wanted to be a cartoonist. Maybe I shouldhave gonwe that route. This stuff they have on now is barely watchable. I watched Total Drama Island the other night, and if I didn’t realize it was a spoof of Survivor, I’d have thought it was total idiocy. Chowder makes Spongebob seem like Einstein! It’s ridiculous. I gess Cartoon Network is too good to show reruns of good cartoons! Bring back JEm, He Man, She Ra, Tranmsformers, Get Along Gang, Kissyfur, Kidd Video, etc.

I’m in total agreement with you. What ever happened to the awesome cartoons like Tom and Jerry or Bugs Bunny? I don’t understand this new era in cartoon land.
