Getting to the specifics of my degree… finally!

As this 3rd year in college progresses, I find that I am *almost* done with the pre-reqs and am moving straight over to the core classes for my major!  YES!

This revelation puts me in a bit of shock (well not really shock… but more like disbelief) because at some point, it felt like i’d never get there just because there was an overwhelming amount of pre-reqs to get through.

Right now, I am taking a Unix/Linux class and also a Dreamweaver CS3 class.  Both are very interesting and both take a lot of work.  The Dreamweaver class will be a cinche since i’ve been using the program as a text-editor for awhile  The Unix/Linux class will provide me with some hands-on computer stuff that I haven’t worked with yet.  I smell a challenge here.  How exciting!

I’ll be spending so much time on these classes that I won’t have much time for my elliptical. Good thing i’m taking the summer off!

collegiate ponderings…

This morning as I was making breakfast I started thinking about the return of classes in September and the three years I still have left until I obtain my Bachelor’s degree. It seems like forever away and yet so very close at the same time.

Baker sent a brochure to the house the other day marked “resident”. In their brochure they listed all of the degree programs they have to offer currently. To my surprise they added some really cool new ones… like video game software developer. Hmmm…. I like video games and I would only have to take a few more classes to get a double Bachelor’s.

Of course, i’m trying to decide if I should do a double Bachelor’s degree or to obtain only the single degree in web development and then go on to get my masters. The real question here is, which route will make me more marketable in the end?

So for me it’s double Bachelor’s vs. a Masters degree. What’s a girl to do? What would you do?

The calm before the storm

Life has been strangely quiet and serene in our neck of the woods.  I have been having lots of braxton hicks contractions over the last couple of weeks.  The baby is moving less and less.  We had our first “official” ultrasound on Tuesday!  I am currently 36 weeks along!  The baby is heads down (not that it matters because i’ll end up with a c-section anyway) and getting cramped in there!  The ultrasound tech could even detect some hair on his head!  Seeing my little one on screen made me so happy and excited for D-day!

So, admittedly all I can think about lately is getting through the next two weeks or so.  Everything baby-related is on my mind!  I’ve been diligently watching “Deliver me” and “A Baby Story”  as well as another hour-long baby show on Discovery Health channel (for the life of me I can’t remember the name… I only know that “babies” is in the title!).  Seriously…I can’t get enough!

This is the LAST official week of classes until summer break!  YAY!  I’m working hard on my site and no doubt will be finished on time.  It will be so nice to be done next week!  I am really looking forward to summer vacation!

No date for the C-section as of yet.  My doctor was sick on the day of my appointment and wanted to move the time up.  Unfortunately, my husband could not accommodate the time with his work schedule.  So, next week on Monday I see him again.  I will be officially 37 weeks then!  I really hope he sets up a date this time!  I think I was spoiled by my last OB (no longer practicing in my state).  She hooked me up with a date at 28 weeks!  So admittedly, i’m a bit more impatient with this one.  I have good reasoning though.  My mom needs a date so that she can schedule off time from work to be here to watch the kids for us.

Anyway, that’s pretty much what is going on in my life right now.   I hope everyone is doing well!

Goodbye Creative Writing

Today is the last day of my creative writing class.  I have to admit that i’m feeling a  little sad about it.  I have always loved to write but sometimes it takes a bit for inspiration to hit.  Still, this class seemed to hold a pool of unending inspiration for me.  My classmates were/are incredibly talented writers.  We shared ideas, gave constructive criticism and thoroughly enjoyed our experience!  Our teacher, is a good writer and a great teacher.

Have you ever had a class or experience like that?  One where you were sad to see it end?

This was one of the best classes I have had at Baker.  Thanks for the memories!

Now on to Western Geography and Ethics! :o )
