I received a call from Comcast about a week and a half ago. They made the jump from analog to digital television with their expanded-basic package. Basically, any television in the house that doesn’t have a digital receiver would only get the most basic channels. The other televisions in the house would have to have their new digital box receiver. I suppose it is similar to bell tv. The only difference is that we do not have HD in our bedroom, only in our livingroom.
You know, I must say that I have never been inclined to see Twilight the movie or read the books. Maybe it’s because all of the hype has turned me off or perhaps it’s because I was bitten by… or rather taken with another series first.
That series is the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. From the very first book (Dead until dark), to the current one I am reading (Dead to the world), I find myself obsessively drawn into Sookie’s world of super natural beings and vampire love.
I sheepishly have to admit that I finished the last book in 1 day. Even my husband was impressed. The fact of the matter is, I couldn’t put it down. Literally. I had to know what would happen next.
Even better? A television series called True Blood (HBO) that is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series. Husb and I are hooked on this series. We are waiting rather impatiently for the show to return in June. One of the best reasons to watch: Stephen Moyer (aka Vampire Bill) is very yummy. His chemistry with Anna Paquinn (aka Sookie) is out of this world H-O-T!
Husb and I like to chat occasionally during his workday. Usually, I will try and hop on the computer during the kids naps and conquer my computer stuff and that includes chatting with husb. Today, he sends me a chat message with a link to a 52″ high definition television. This one happened to be plasma though I know that he is deciding whether he wants plasma or LCD. Apparently, in a plasma television the black is more of a “true black”. Who knew?
So the t.v. was listed for $1400. Wow. We don’t have that kind of cash laying around though I suppose he’ll want to dip into our tax refund money to pay for it. I’m okay with that as long as the important stuff gets taken care of first. Truth be told, i’ll be glad when we finally buy an HD tv. Then I wont have to hear about it anymore or receive endless hints in chats, e-mails, dinner conversation, or pauses between commericals. LOL
He has however, decided that he wants to buy a new tv stand to go with it. One that mounts it to the wall without actually ruining the wall.
Do you have a high definition television? How does it look when gaming? I hear the visual experience is much better, especially for current and next gen consoles.
So, i’m stupid. Dumb, dumb dumb. I went out last night and spent $40 worth of Halloween/Autumn decorations for the house and did not check our finances first. So of course, I checked with our bank first thing this morning (like I always do) and we are $100 in the hole! Bleh! Stupid me! *slaps forehead*
Now i’m sitting here looking at those Halloween decorations as the most useless items on the planet. I wasn’t sorry when I bought them (I was quite excited actually because they are downright cute!), but I sure am sorry now… knowing that it cost me an extra $100. Live, learn, and then buy Luvs…. right?
In other news…. Clay Aiken finally came out of the closet. Raise your hand if you were surprised to find out that he is gay. *scans room* … Anybody?
In reality trash news… Bret Michaels will be the star of yet another “Rock of Love” only this time he will find love on the road. I have to say that although i’m excited to see another Rock of Love hit the airwaves, i’m just a little over Bret Michaels. I was hoping they’d get Tommy Lee or Richie Sambora to be the next ROL front man.
Bleh… I can’t stop thinking about my financial blunder! Well… at least I don’t have to spring for any Ferrari parts. Heck, we don’t even own a Ferrari. I now consider myself a Minivan mogul!
Everything has been relatively copesetic this past weekend. I have mentioned this probably a thousand times but I can’t believe how fast time flies by! It seems like things happened “just yesterday” even though it has been weeks, months, years!
I was down in the basement this morning going through old boxes with the hopes of condensing the clutter. I came across a box of antique plates that we got for a wedding present oh-so-long ago. They are numbered and very heavy. I think i’m going to sell them to an antique store. Provided that that is how antique stores work? I’m not sure if they sell the stuff for you and then take a commission or if they buy the stuff from you and then sell it themselves for profit.
Husb was helping and then he decided to go off with a friend and find Harley parts. Boys and their mechanical toys… I swear!
It’s a lovely day in the neighborhood and a gentle breeze is blowing through the living room. Husb and the kids are down for a nap now! I think i’m going to continue to work on my website project and continue watching the season premiere of 90210.
Oh yeah that reminds me…. How exciting is it that 90210 is back?! I mean… well… not with the original cast… but still! Now if only the powers that be could put Melrose Place back on the air, I would be a happy girl! Too bad Marcia Cross already has another acting gig! It would be awesome if Kimberley came back from the dead again!
Happy Sunday everyone!

I am currently LOVIN’ the Discovery Health channel. Today, I watched some heart-wrenching albeit interesting programming. The first few programs were all about babies (well, C-sections to be more specific). The baby programs make me get all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Then, I watched a segment on gastric-bypass surgery candidates. There was a 637 pound woman named Jackie, who said she didn’t feel human anymore. She felt that because of her size, she lost her feminity. I wanted to cry for Jackie. She came across as a very loving and gentle soul. The saddest part was when she said she watches television from sun up to sun down, living her life vicariously through the characters and personalities on tv. I could not imagine the pain that she has endured her whole life because of this.
It reminded me of my own weight issues and the length that I would go to, to achieve the ultimate goal. I’ve done everything from Dr. Atkins to a variety of weight loss pills. Because I am at my own highest weight, I could understand what Jackie was going through to an extent. I only hope that she is able to lose the weight she wants to lose through the surgery.
So, hubb added more computer memory to the hard drive. This is a good thing as I save TONS of things on my computer. We save almost everything on this computer! We even have a separate hard drive for our movies (we like having our movies on the computer in case we go on a trip… that way we can transfer the files over to the lap top and Owbie can watch them while on the trip).
In other news…. did anyone watch LOST last night? What did y’all think? I want to know what the heck happened to Claire!

If you’re like me then you too were addicted to the show, 7th Heaven. You tuned in every week to get lost in the life of the Camden family. You loved Reverend Camden, mom Annie, serious Matt, rebellious Mary, nutty Lucy, sensitive Simon, wise Ruthie, and the babies Sam and David! I catch reruns of this show everyday from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. on the Hallmark channel! I have even heard that there is a 7th Heaven book available for sale! In addition to the DVD collection, I might just have to get that book!
One of the things I loved most about 7th Heaven, is that every episode contained a lesson. It was a show you could turn on and watch with your children. In my opinion, being able to watch your favorite shows with your children is something that is missing in today’s media mind. There aren’t very many shows I consider watching with my kids. How about you?
Were you / are you a 7th Heaven fan? What did you like about the show?
