Getting behind

The holidays are now behind us and it’s time to start reveling in the winter cold without the notion of good will towards men. Still, most of us either enjoy the winter or start dreaming of spring. Spring is a time when we can all start planning our spring and summer trips in our campers and RVs. It’s also a time where we can shop around for rv insurance.

Travelling for the holidays

Some people travel by cars. Some by trains. Some by planes. And still others travel by motor home. That’s right, a house with wheels. We know who to call if our cars break down, but what do we do if our motor home breaks down? Well, apparently, you can get rv towing service. You can have the policy added on to your insurance OR you can get the service through somewhere else. It’s a good idea to look into before doing any traveling. It is nice to know there are good services like this out there!

4th of July plans and randomness

The week has been long here on the compound. I’m not really sure why, except to say that i’m excited about the upcoming 4th of July holiday!

The summer has been warming up around here. It has been in the high 80s and low 90s from Sunday to now. The week is supposed to finish out the same way it came in…. H-O-T.

We are doing a bit of traveling this holiday. Husb has talked about getting a motorcycle. He would like to economize on gas and such. I think it’s an okay idea, except that I would worry about him getting into an accident.

My brother and sister-in-law live in California now. They live around Pleasanton. My brother just got a motorcycle. My sister-in-law worries about him because she doesn’t want him to get into an accident (the same way I would worry if husb got a motorcycle). Good thing she knows a Pleasanton motorcycle accident attorney. If anything ever happened then they would be covered!

Family Trips… Travelling with kids

luggage isn’t the only thing you should bring on a trip with your family.  Long car rides can be especially trying for younger children.  They get restless… stir crazy if you will.  It is a good idea to pack up the following items if you are looking to take a road trip anytime soon:

1.  Snacks — Arm yourself with snacks or you will hear “mommy!  I’m hungry!” more than once.

2.  Travel games — Choose age-appropriate games for your child to play.  If you have a travel companion (i.e. your spouse), see if he/she would be interested in playing “I Spy” or another fun road game to pass the time.

3.  Music– Even if you don’t want to listen to the latest Dora The Explorer CD the whole way, it is still a good idea to bring some kid music along.  Then, you can take turns putting in their CDs and your CDs.  You can even let them be the “road DJ” if you want.  They’ll get a kick out of it!

4.  Comfy pillows and blankets –  sleeping in a car is not comfortable in the slightest, and kids under a certain age/height are generally stuck in their car seats.  So it is a good idea to bring comfort items from home such as blankets, pillows and even stuffed animals.  Your kids will sleep better on the trip trust me!

5.  And finally, if your children are of the age where they enjoy watching television and you think that it is something they will miss on the car ride, pack up some of their favorite DVDs and a portable DVD player.

These are just a few tips that will make any long car ride a little more headache free!
