When you go on vacation, do you try to find a destination that is kid-friendly? What are some kid-friendly destinations you have found? I would love to take my kids to Disney Land/ Disney World, Six Flags, Cedar Point, or some place similar to that!

I was offered a Branson vacation awhile back. I have a cousin who lives in Missouri. She wants us to come down for a week this summer and enjoy shopping, golf and a festival! I am pretty excited about it!

When do you plan your vacations in the summer?

Diet pill reviews

Do you use diet pills?  Do you review the latest products that are available on the market? Have you read the apidexin reviews?

As far as I know, Alli is the only FDA approved diet drug out there. Everything else is a take-at-your own risk. So be sure to do your research and consult your doctor before taking any diet pills. Remember to see if you can find a mix of reviews (caution against only reading the good reviews).

Make your health your first priority! :)

The difference between quick weight loss and slow weight loss

Posted on : 15-05-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : Weighty Matters

There are many differences between a quick weight loss program and a slow weight loss program. For one thing, if you have a lot of weight to lose, you won’t be doing yourself any favors by losing the weight quickly. I say this because you need to give your body time to adjust to the changes. You need to slowly immerse yourself into a healthy lifestyle or you will feel deprived and like you have pushed yourself too fast. Weight loss is a mental game as well as physical.

Losing weight quick is fine for 5, 10 or 15 pesky pounds. However, if you have 20+ pounds to lose, it’s better to go with a gradual weight loss program so that you can give yourself time to adjust to the changes to your body.

Everything is for sale… Online

I have noticed that you can literally buy ANYTHING online! You can buy diet pills online, cars online, puppies online and find love online!

The internet is its own little economy! People barter, trade, buy and sell goods and services. People even educate themselves online with e-learning universities and from the millions of do-it-yourself tutorials. It’s amazing really. The internet today has changed from where it was in 1998. We are not only able to connect with other people from across the world, we are also able to build businesses and valuable skills. This is our way to keep up-to-date with the changing economy!

What do you think? Are you impressed with the online economy?

The newest form of acne treatment

Ever have acne issues after you have had a baby? I think it’s common. It’s because our hormones are changing from pregnancy hormones to normal ones. Though it is completely normal it can be completely frustrating. I mean, were moms now… not teenagers, right?

I recently read up on a new acne procedure called blue light therapy. It involves a blue light laser that gently kills the bacteria on your face. It is completely devoid of harmful Ultra Violet (UV) rays and so it won’t damage your skin or cause age-lines.

Confessions of a stressed out mom

When looking through my data to find out how people got to my blog, the one search phrase I found: “confessions of a stressed out mom”.  You know?  I am totally a stressed out mom sometimes.  Why?  Because (like most moms), I have a superhero complex.  I believe that I can do it all.  It is only when I load my plate with unrealistic tasks and expectations that I realize I need to slow it down.  It is then that I realize in all reality that I can’t do everything in one fell swoop as I imagine that I can.

And you know?  I have discovered that it is okay not to be a superhero.  It is okay to say no to certain tasks or realign things in order of importance for myself rather than other people.  I think if all of us women could learn to do that, we might then be a little happier. :)

If your husband is anything like mine, then he must have an obsession with all things electronic or handy (i.e. tools). My husband recently announced that he would like to get an atv for Father’s Day. Unfortunately, at the moment we do not have the money for an atv. Someday, I would like to get him one. For now, he will have to settle for an atv magazine subscription!

What does your husband ask for for Father’s Day?

Baby Shower Invites

My sister-in-law is expecting her first baby in September. She is having a little girl! I am so excited that I will have a niece! I am in charge of planning her baby shower here. So, I was looking for baby shower invitations the other day.

I have a few options: I can either make my own, custom order some or buy some already made-up generic ones from the store.

I think I may go the “make-your-own” route since I want it to be extra special.

What have you done or what would you choose to do?

Finding a job in this economy

Posted on : 01-05-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : All Business

I firmly believe that we need to enhance and perhaps even expand our employable skills when looking for jobs in this economy. Recently, I was watching the news and an economist was discussing the state of the economy, jobs, etc. She said that the economy doesn’t need to go back to where it was but simply that people need to adjust their skills to meet the requirements of the current economy. Unfortunately, factory jobs and even some middle management / upper management jobs (where paper pushing is a must) are no longer in demand. So, we need to then take a look at what is in demand and then expand our skills to meet the demands.

Losing weight and gaining years

Posted on : 27-04-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : Health, Weighty Matters

I am not one for finding literature and such on how to lose weight fast. In my mind, there is no fast way to lose weight. Even if you lose it fast, you have to develop the skills to maintain it.

There is a lot more to weight loss than just losing weight. There is a process behind it that involves everything from your emotions to making changes in your daily life. But I will tell you one thing. If you start now, you won’t regret it. Because this time next year you will be that much further ahead! :)

Love your skin

I’m always on the lookout for the best acne products on the market. Due to technological advances in the last 5 years alone, we now have tons of choices for skin care (and more specifically anti acne) products.

My skin varies between dry and oily. I moisturize but sometimes it seems like too much. Other times however, my skin becomes really dry and i’m not sure what to use or how to fix it. Applying anything with alcohol makes it drier.

Do you love your skin? Do you take care of it? What are your favorite products?

Musical drums

I found some stainless steel drums the other day. I had thought about getting them for my oldest son and then a guitar for my daughter. I am a very musical person and so my wish is to pass on the musical passion to my kids. Who knows? Someday they may be interested in music. To me, that would be amazing!

Do your kids love music? Did you buy them instruments of any kind?

Selling your gold or buying it

Have you ever seen those cash-for-gold commercials?  Where you sell your gold and get cash?  Recently, I came across a commercial where you can invest in gold coins or gold bullion coins. Gold coins are a fairly safe investment because gold is a precious metal. Back before paper money and the currency we know today, gold bullion coins were used as currency as well as the barter system.

Mean Mommys?

Posted on : 16-04-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : Parenting

I found an interesting article on this-here blogosphere about mean mommy bloggers. The article is entitled “Mommy Meanest? The Darkside of mom blogs”.

The article talks about how most parenting circles and social sites (forums, social networks, etc.) usually consist of supportive moms. However, even amongst the most supportive sites — other moms can sometimes be… well… downright cruel.

It seems that in some respect we are missing our manners today. Parenting is the toughest job we’ll ever do. In our ever-technological world we are now subject to what feels like 24 hour surveillance. People catch parents in bad moments and post them on Youtube and such. This usually brings out a mob of opinionaters just ready to strike either for or against. Can you imagine your total parenting life being picked apart by one Youtube clip?

Why is it that we are so quick to judge and be critical? Just some food for thought…

Dismissing of children

Posted on : 12-04-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : Deep Thoughts, Parenting

A debate on iVillage recently caught my attention.

A mother posted about her experience at a store with her children.  Apparently, the children were in line to pay for their purchases and an adult cut in front of them.  When the mom approached the adult on the subject, that person just laughed it off and said that she thought the kids were just “hanging out”.  The mom immediately stood up for her children and still the adult dismissed the idea that perhaps… *she* was wrong to do what she did.

The mom brought up a good point.  She said that if the adults in society cannot show a bit of respect, courtesy and polite regard…. then how will children learn respect and courtesy?

I suppose we still somewhat live in a society where some people feel children should be seen but not heard.  We cart them off to play their ps3 or whatever gaming system they might have…. and we expect them to show respect and courtesy at all times.

But what about adults? How often do *we* show respect and courtesy? How often do *we* exercise patience and understanding?

From where I am standing, not as often as we should…

Side effects of the diet pills

Posted on : 01-04-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : My Disorganized Life

Before taking any kind of prescription it is best to consult your doctor. There are diet pill side effects. Diet pills seem like a quick fix and sometimes can help push weight loss forward by speeding up the metabolism or giving boosts of energy. However, like most medicines, they can also have side effects. Of course, it wont effect everyone the same, which is why it is important to consult a doctor before pursuing this kind of treatment for obesity.

New home– new breaks on insurance

Posted on : 01-04-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : My Disorganized Life

Recently, we purchased a home insurance policy. We bought the policy from the same place we get our car insurance. We turned previously higher insurance into a low cost car insurance policy. Just adding multi-line policies has helped us save money in the long run!

Before adding multi-lines, we were looking for cheaper insurance.  While we did find some cheaper options, we weren’t so sure about the reputation of the companies.

Where do you get your insurance from?  Do you feel it is the cheapest option?

We are superheros to our children

Posted on : 27-03-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : Deep Thoughts, Randomness of the Day

My children look up to me. They count on me to give them what they need and want and also to keep them safe.

I am not just a mom. I am a teacher, motivational speaker, chef, therapist, maid, conspirator, spiritual leader and care taker. The hats that I wear as a parent are necessary. At the end of the day it is my job to make sure that my child is a productive and strong contributing member of society.

We are superheros to our children. Our children look to us as parents to protect and provide for them at all costs. It breaks my heart when I hear of children who are not only unprotected but not made to feel safe in their own home.

We are superheros. Our children depend on us to help them conquer fears such as a href=”http://www.bravina.com/”>public speaking anxiety and spiders. But if we cannot conquer our own fears and become our own heroes, then how can we be all of that and more to our children?

One of my favorite Dr. Phil sayings… “This situation needs a hero”.

So be a hero to your child. :)

The importance of having a clean colon

Posted on : 24-03-2010 | By : Sassymom | In : Health

I’m not a doctor. But I do know that I want to stay around for my children as long as possible. That is why, I am taking the necessary steps to take care of my body now instead of the proverbial later. Because the fact of the matter is, we don’t know how much longer we will be blessed with. Tomorrows are always a gift.

Because of that notion, I have made it my mission to get regular colon and body cleanses. It helps get rid of free radicals and also helps to prevent cancer. Any kind of prevention when it comes to your health is a good thing!
