Backing up data

One of the things that I have learned as I travel on the road to learning how to administer a server properly is data backup. If you click here, you will go to a site that will help you find an efficient way to back up your data.

It is important (for security reasons as well as disaster recovery reasons) to keep data backed up efficiently.

Considering a new home state?

At one time, I had considered moving to North Carolina. While that move may not be in the cards for awhile, I am glad that I did research on things such as housing, car insurance, cost of living and health insurance — namely Blue Advantage insurance.

When considering a new home state, it is always best to compare all of the various costs that are incurred with general living. Property taxes, home costs, utility costs, insurance costs, etc. are all important when determining your salary requirements from your old state to your new home state. :)

I am interested in hearing from others who have moved out of their original home state. What process did you follow if any?

Sometimes you need some customizing

I have recently fallen in love with custom laptops. As a web designer / developer, I find that I need my laptop to have the latest specifications. Keeping things above the grade is useful for looking toward the future. I would actually recommend that every business try to stay in line with or as much ahead of technology as possible. In the long run, it will be cheaper (even though it may not seem that way upfront).

One of the biggest challenges I face when wanting new furniture is the design, texture and color. At times, I will find a decent style but the texture is off. Other times, I find the right texture but I can’t find the right color or design to go with it. That is why designer upholstery fabric is so magical! Designer fabric can truly help you turn your living space into your personal haven!

Where do you buy your furniture? Have you ever had your furniture re-upholstered?

Copper pipes or teflon hose?

I have just become aware of teflon hose. At first, I thought it was a kind of pantyhose (shows you how much I know about construction! LOL) but then after doing more research I found out that it is a very sturdy material used for water pipes! You can select the right type of hose for the pressure of water you currently have.

It is a very versatile product!

New diet on the market

First, have you ever heard of the French diet? It is a diet similar to Atkins, where you do mostly low-carb. However, unlike the Atkins diet, the French diet has days where you eat meat for a good portion of the day and can add only a bit of vegetables and a tablespoon of oat bran. It is supposed to work but for the long-term not recommended.

Another new product on the market: have you ready any oxyelite pro reviews? I have not heard of this one yet but will be sure to read up on the benefits of this product! :)

Famous cigars

Have you ever heard of davidoff cigars? Apparently, davidoff cigars are a popular brand of smoke with a “Mad Men” era kind of appeal.

Even if you don’t smoke cigars but enjoy collecting them, this would be a great cigar to add to your collection!

My dad smokes cigars on occasion. It is a habit turned hobby (he also collects them) that he picked up a few years ago. He says that he enjoys the flavor of a cigar now and then! For that reason, I think I am going to get him a davidoff cigar for his collection!

Roadside Assistance.

I am a stay-at-home mom and most of the time I find that I am the person who takes the kids to the store, on trips, etc. I really like to be on the go, especially during the warmer months (spring and summer).

Even though I love traveling with the kids, I worry about getting stranded on a roadside somewhere. Let’s face it… life is pretty unpredictable. That is why I have decided to look into joining a roadside assistance club. I think this is a great thing to be apart of as a mom who often takes her kids on road trips alone!

The right shoes

I am always on the look out for some great non skid shoes for winter. I am not a “boot” girl. When going on walks in the spring, I find that it helps to have non-skid shoes in case of any icy or slippery spots not yet melted by the warming weather.

Do you have non-skid shoes? Do you like them?

High risk?

Sometimes in life, things happen that we don’t anticipate. Sometimes, we don’t realize that we are high risk for things. It is a good thing that there are high risk life insurance policies available.

So, if you are sick or have a high risk job, you will be able to afford life insurance for your family. It is nice to know that if something happens, you will be covered and most importantly, your family will be covered! :)

Kids for cash?

I read a few disturbing things online about one former judge Mark Ciavarella reportedly handed out harsh punishment for first time offenders — everything ranging from first time drug possession, joy riding and minor offenses for cash. That’s right, Ciavarella would get monetary kickbacks for sending as many offenders as possible to juvenile correction facilities. It is reported that he collected a sum upward of a million dollars.

One such teenager was never the same after being sent to a juvenile correction facility for a drug paraphernalia possession charge. The teen was hauled off in shackles and sent for 6 months to live in a correction facility with murderers and gang members. This teen was never the same after serving his time and as a result, committed suicide some years later.

The mother of this teen blames Ciavarella for the death of her son. The judge has been convicted on 12 of 39 charges against him.

For more information on this incredulous story, please visit ABC.com for the full scoop: http://abcnews.go.com/US/mark-ciavarella-pa-juvenile-court-judge-convicted-alleged/story?id=12965182

As a parent, my heart goes out to the mother whose teenage son committed suicide. What do you think of this? Was justice truly blind in these incidences?

Suppress your appetite.

Weight loss experts and even average Joes and Janes like myself often say that one of the best ways to suppress your appetite is to wait 15-20 minutes after the “hunger signal” strikes and if you are still having the urge to eat — then choose something low-cal or healthy.

People also say that water can act as a good weight loss suppressant.

Some people talk about appetite suppressants in pill form. I have not taken appetite suppressants but I have taken weight loss pills that had an “appetite suppressant” affect on me.

Have you taken appetite suppressants? Were they effective?

Natural weight loss remedies

Many people are unaware of the fact that that certain herbs and plants found in nature can actually help speed up weight loss and produce fairly decent results. Sometimes, the reason we aren’t losing weight is because of an unbalance in our diets (too much of some things and not enough of others).

I have recently found a few reviews on adapexin p. Interestingly enough, this weight loss product is said to consist of many ingredients found in nature.

However, there aren’t enough statistics to prove whether or not it works or even whether or not it is dangerous. If you are interested in trying a weight loss product, your best bet is to copy down a list of ingredients and bring it to your doctor for his/her consultation.

The best way to burn fat?

Posted on : 20-02-2011 | By : Sassymom | In : Weighty Matters

Dieting is a simple game of calories in and calories out. Or at least, it is supposed to be a simple game. Most of the time the complication comes in when your head just isn’t in the game (so to speak). Sometimes even the best fat burners fail to help.

So, before you start a diet or health plan, make sure you get your head in the game. Make sure you solidify your reasons for losing weight and be absolutely sure that you want it and I mean… really want it.

Adult Acne

Adult acne. It is embarrassing and puzzling. Many things can cause acne as an adult: hormones, less-than-stellar hygiene routine, food allergies — you name it.

The usual over-the-counter medicines usually work but can sometimes be harsh and dry out your skin or produce red patches from dryness. Topical medication prescribed by a dermatologist may actually be better for your skin and more hypoallergenic. Sometimes, regardless of the method you use the acne simply inserts itself stubbornly on your skin. That is why it is a good idea to do as much research as possible and find the product that works best for you.

Remember, not all products are created equal as the skin you are in could be as different as night and day from someone else. :)

Weight loss and belly fat

We all lose weight differently. Some lose the weight in their face or chest first. Others lose the weight in their hips and arms. One of the most stubborn places to lose weight is in your stomach / waist.

If you are anything like me, then you are always looking for a good way to how to get rid of lower belly fat for good. What I found works: spot training works, lots of sit ups and ab crunches, and low-carb diets.

Business cards

I have a home-based business. One of the inexpensive ways for me to advertise is to have business cards printed up. I did a lot of research on business card printing. I made sure to make a short list of pricey printing services to low-cost printing services. I jotted down a few notables (like any review comments – both positive and negative).

At the end of the day, I believe that I chose the best printing service for my business cards. I made the cards myself and wanted to make sure that the very best care would be taken when printing them up! I just have to say, they look fabulous.

Do you own your own business? If so, do you make your own business cards? Who did you choose to print with?

Gaming computers

I love playing computer games! My husband (in fact) has turned me into a computer gamer. A few years ago he did some research on gaming computers and built a desktop gaming computer for us. He did a great job! I remember that he wanted the best motherboard and video card available for that time.

The computer still works perfectly today! It is quite speedy still and definitely does a great job keeping up with our online gameplay! :)

Injury on vacation

What do you do if you receive an Offshore Injury while on vacation in another country or on a job that involves being on a ship? Things happen. It’s not always possible to have a lawyer on speed dial unless you use one for frequent transactions. Liberties don’t follow you to other countries. When things like this happen — it’s good to be able to contact a lawyer that specifically deals with injuries offshore.

Remember, in life you can’t plan for everything but you can prepare yourself. :)
